FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does the metadata remover work?

Your browser decodes the visible image pixels and exports them into a new file. Hidden metadata blocks from the original are not copied into that new image.

Will the original photo be modified?

No. The original file remains unchanged. You download a separate file with “-clean” added to its name.

Which formats can be cleaned?

JPEG, PNG and WebP work in modern browsers. Other formats may be readable for metadata inspection but need conversion to JPEG for cleaning.

Does this remove every possible hidden payload?

The tool removes common metadata by rebuilding the image from decoded pixels. It is designed for normal photos, not forensic sanitization of hostile files.
